Missing

Janet “JoJo” Stephens-Brown

“No never, never ever. Her aunt Norma Jean went to her grave this summer wondering about this child and I told her, I promised her until I die, we will find her and with help, we’ll find her. I really believe we’ll find her…”

On October 14, 2009, 25-year-old Janet Jolene Stephens-Brown “JoJo” was last seen at Junior Food Mart on 29th Street in Ashland, Ky. I think at this time it’s known as ‘Ken’s 29th Street Express Market’.  There was another possible sighting of her later, on November 11, 2009, in the parking lot of Vincent Apartments on Winchester Avenue. According to what local gossip is available, apparently, the location of JR’s was a hot spot for drug deals and more than likely usage as well. Which means that there could definitely have been some seedy individuals hanging around the gas station whenever JoJo stopped in. According to an article by The Daily Independent, she left her home at around dusk to walk to Juniors for a pack of cigarettes and a soda. It was only a couple of blocks away from where she was living.

According to LE they were unable to locate any connections to anyone outside of the local area that she was in contact with, leaving no indication that she had left voluntarily. This is bolstered by the fact that she left all of her personal belongings behind in her home.

That being said there are active warrants out on Jolene, but her family believes that even if she were ‘on the run’ she would have at the very least made a phone call to let them know she was okay.
